Observational constraints on a Unified Dark Matter model with fast transition

Unified Dark Matter models (UDM), a class of models that entertains the possibility of a universe where dark matter and dark energy exist as a single fluid, are an alternative approach to $slashLambda$CDM. In this work we focus on a model with a fast transition between dark matter-like and dark energy-like behaviours. We have tested this UDM model against SNe Ia, BAO, CMB and weak lensing data. At the end of our analysis, we were able to conclude, for the first time, that this model is able to form structure and that this is in agreement with recent observational data, rendering the model as a viable alternative to $slashLambda$CDM.
