The conference will occur at the School of Mines and Energy Engineering (Calle Ríos Rosas 21, Madrid, Spain). Due to repair work on the main façade of the School of Mines, access will be via Calle Alenza 2. See the access map.
The assembly hall is a noble, classical room, with wooden furniture and a modern audio and video installation. This room will host the plenary sessions. The parallel sessions will take place in a smaller room nearby. The check-in of conference attendees will be done at the desk in the anteroom.
The collonaded courtyard of the main school building is spacious and cosy, suitable for coffee breaks. On the first floor, in the corner, there are tables used by students to study. During the conference, they will be accessible to the attendees for work or relaxation. The Eduroam wifi network is available. As in any public building, the school has toilets. There is also a cash machine. In addition, due to its central location, it is easy to find a multitude of restaurants in the area.
Access to the metro is immediate, as it is practically on the school's doorstep. The closest metro station is Ríos Rosas (line 1 - light blue, exit calle Rios Rosas Impares) which connects to Puerta del Sol and the Atocha and Chamartín train stations. The connection to the Madrid-Barajas airport (metro line 8, pink colour) is quite direct, accessing Nuevos Ministerios by metro or by a 10' walk.
